What is FLAG?

FLAG is short for Ferry Lane Action Group. We chose the name because we are very active on Ferry Lane estate. Haringey Council’s Resident Engagement team supports FLAG as a recognised residents association.

FLAG belongs to all residents. Members of FLAG are any resident or their carer who live on our estate (as shown in the map). There are over 800 households on the estate, made up of single person households, couples, family groups, flat shares in social housing (council or housing association), leaseholders, homeowners, private renters ….

The committee is chosen each year by residents at a large meeting, usually held in the community room at the school. Every resident is told about the meeting and can come along. The annual general meeting (AGM) offers residents a chance to join the committee. Currently there are just under 20. The full committee meets around 8 times a year.

I love living on Ferry Lane Estate, there is a real sense of community, it’s peaceful and safe. I have lived on the estate for 2 years and have been part of the FLAG committee for the past year. I have enjoyed getting to know people and supporting local events and am proud to be part of a community.
